Print this newspostCEV in cooperation with The Liaison Agency Flanders-Europe, the Veneto Region, the Valencia Region, the Oslo Region and ENSA (European Network on Social Authorities) organise a side event, which will take place on Tuesday 5th October, from 14h – 16h in the premises of the Liaison Agency Flanders-Europe (Brussels).

The side event,

European Year of Volunteering – Attracting Volunteers
Boosting social cohesion by volunteering

organised within the Committee of the Regions’ Open Days,  aims to raise awareness about the value and importance of volunteering - as an expression of civic participation and an example of people-to-people activity which contributes to issues which are of common concern of all Member States, such as a harmonious societal development and economic cohesion.

In addition, CEV will be present with an information stand on ‘European Year of Volunteering 2011’ at the Meeting Place of the Open Days, in which the CEV will emphasize the importance of volunteering as a central force in building a cohesive and inclusive society and cooperation based on solidarity and active citizenship, starting at local and regional level.

The Committee of the Regions’ annual Open Days will take place on 4th – 7th October 2010. This year’ s focus is on competitiveness, co-operation and cohesion for all regions as an inherent part of the Europe 2020 strategy, which was put forward by the European Commission and which sets out a vision of Europe's social market economy for the 21st century.
