2010 European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion

BBE - Week of Civic Engagements - Engagement makes you strong

Challenging poverty creating hope. Breaking the cycle of poverty and mental health problems

Mental Health Europe is organising a conference which aims to highlight the link between mental disabilities and poverty, both mental problems as a potential result of economic and social problems and, adversely, poverty resulting from the mental disability of individuals. The conference will present the results of a survey made by Mental Health Europe among its members, with a focus on mental health and poverty problems of children, young people, women, elderly and migrants. Lifelong Learning (LLL) Programme Infodays

The Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) of the European Commission is organising Infodays on Lifelong Learning (LLL) which will provide information on funding possibilities in the field of LLL, latest news on LLL, how to write a successful project, how to find partners etc. Note that the two days will cover the same programme; it is only possible to sign up for one date. In addition, it is possible to participate remotely using the "live" transmission of all sessions and chat directly with the Lifelong Learning Programme team on 12th November. From rhetoric to reality - the charter on Lifelong Learning 2 years after

The European Association for University Lifelong Learning (EUCEN) is organising a conference ‘From Rhetoric to Reality - The Charter on Lifelong Learning 2 years after’. Through this conference EUCEN will try to clarify potential misperceptions of the concept of Lifelong Learning (LLL) to uphold to the definition as it was laid down in the Charter submitted by the European University Association to the Ministries of Higher Education in 2008. In addition, EUCEN will aim to produce propositions and recommendations on further development of the LLL concept. Find more information on the conference here.

XIII Spanish Voluntary Work Congress  

La Rioja (Spain): 30/11/2010 - 02/12/2010

From 30th November to 2nd December 2010, La Rioja will be hosting the XIII Spanish Voluntary Work Congress, which is the Annual State Conference on Volunteering held every year in a different region in Spain. The conference is organised by Spanish autonomous communities to commemorate the International  Day of Volunteers (5th December). More information can be found on the conference website.

CEV Symposium "Volunteering as a means of empowerment and social inclusion - a bridge between the European Years 2010 and 2011"

CEV organises its second Symposium 2010 in Brussels in cooperation with four Belgian member organisations and in the framework of the Belgian Presidency of the EU. This conference will bring together professionals from the volunteering sector as well as decision-makers, experts in the field of the fight against poverty and social exclusion, volunteers and people experiencing poverty and social exclusion. The event will be CEV's contribution to close the European Year of the fight against poverty and social exclusion 2010 - and the kick-off for the European Year of Volunteering 2011.

IAVE 2011 World Volunteer Conference  

Sentosa, Singapore: 24/01/2011 - 27/01/2011

The IAVE World Volunteer Conference will take place from 24th-27th January 2011 in Sentosa, Singapore and will be hosted by Singapore`s National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre. The conference also coincides with IAVE`s 40th anniversary, as well as the tenth anniversary of the International Year of Volunteering (IYV+10). An affiliated Youth Volunteer Conference will be held from 21st to 23rd January 2011 on the campus of the Singapore Management University. The conference will, among others, address issues such as corporate volunteering, research into volunteer capital, risk management, large scale events, humanitarian relief and episodic volunteering.
