2010 European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion

2010 has been announced the European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion - this year aims to reinforce the EU's commitment to eradicating poverty and providing financial support to a wide array of activities taking place at national and EU level specially  focused on raising awareness and shifting policies. TidyTowns 2010  

Ireland: 01/06/2010 - 01/09/2010

TidyTowns is an annual competition organised by the Irish Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government and is built around the idea that people can make a difference to their own area and make them better places to live, work and visit.
The competition involves participating areas being rated on several aspects of their local environment and prizes are awarded to the best under many different categories. The overall winner is 'Ireland's Tidiest Town', which is announced at a national ceremony in September each year.

BBE - Week of Civic Engagements - Engagement makes you strong

The Week of Civic Engagements, organised by BBE, the German Federal Network for Civil Society, will focus on the recognition of 23 millions dedicated volunteers all over Germany and will also serve as a high visibility event for informing and motivating the public on issues related to civic engagement. IAVE 2011 World Volunteer Conference  

Sentosa, Singapore: 24/01/2011 - 27/01/2011

The IAVE World Volunteer Conference will take place from 24th-27th January 2011 in Sentosa, Singapore and will be hosted by Singapore`s National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre. The conference also coincides with IAVE`s 40th anniversary, as well as the tenth anniversary of the International Year of Volunteering (IYV+10). An affiliated Youth Volunteer Conference will be held from 21st to 23rd January 2011 on the campus of the Singapore Management University. The conference will, among others, address issues such as corporate volunteering, research into volunteer capital, risk management, large scale events, humanitarian relief and episodic volunteering.
