Markus Held
Director


Markus, born 1975 in Germany, studied Social Sciences and a Master in Public Management in Berlin and European Politics in Paris and London. He has worked in Germany as a social worker before coming to Brussels in 2003 to work with the EU Civil Society Contact Group when the “European Constitution” was debated. In 2004 he joined CEV as director. Markus has a longstanding “volunteer career” starting with two longterm volunteer placements in France and Bolivia after finishing secondary school and being involved as president of the Lambda youth network in Berlin-Brandenburg working on anti-discrimination and youth empowerment. He has been appointed at different occasions external expert for the European Economic and Social Committee, has published articles amongst others on Civil Dialogue and on Engagement Policies in the EU and is member of the Management Committee of the Social Platform since 2007.

Katarína Nikodemová

Policy and Project Officer
Katarína is Slovak and works in CEV as Policy and Project Officer since September 09. She studied in Czech Republic, Spain and Sweden and obtained her Master degrees in Political Science and European Studies and in European public administration in multicultural environment, both at the Palacký University in Olomouc. Katarína has previous volunteer and professional experience from NGO sector and European institutions. She has been involved in volunteering at the local level for human rights organisations, youth and active citizenship projects.

Aurélie Storme
Policy and Communication Assistant
Aurélie is Belgian, and she has been working in CEV as Policy and Communication Assistant since August 2009. She holds a degree in political sciences – international relations, and a master in European studies. After her studies, she was an intern in the European Commission, DG development, during six months, and then she did an internship in VOICE, the main European network of humanitarian NGO’s. Aurélie was involved in volunteer activities at school and, in her free time, as a scout group leader for many years.

Stefania Macchioni
CSV.net Liaison Officer
Stefania is Italian and she is the Liaison Officer for CSVnet in Brussels since January 2008. She has a degree in International and Diplomatic Science and a Master degree in European Studies – Community Advisor and Project Consultant. She did the European Voluntary Service in Croatia in 2005. In the last years she has worked as a project manager and coordinator and as an information officer in the voluntary sector both for a volunteer support centre and a youth organisation. In 2006, she also worked for one local Europe Direct relays.

Ivan Ginga
Intern
Ivan is Moldavian/Romanian and he just joined the CEV team as an intern to conduct research on "Facts and Figures on Volunteering" in Russia, Ukraine and Republic of Moldova. Ivan holds a degree in political sciences - European institutions, and a master in European studies - European law. He has been involved in volunteer activities during his studies in Romania with an international organisation and recently finished an internship with UNPO (Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organisation).

Maria Tvrdonova
EVS

Maria is Slovak and she has recently joined the CEV team as an EVS volunteer. She holds a Master in Political Sciences and Diplomacy and is currently enrolled in PhDr studies at the Faculty of Political Sciences and International Relations at the University of Matthias Bel, Slovakia. Previously, Maria did an internship at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic and worked at the Regulatory Office for Network Industries, Department of International Relations for 2 and half years. She has been involved in voluntary activities mainly in the area of sport and youth issues in Slovakia and she took part in an environmental voluntary project in Indonesia

Gabriella Civico

Project Manager at the EYV 2011 Alliance Secretariat


Gabriella is from the UK but has lived for many years in Spain and Portugal.  She has a degree in Social Policy and Education from Surrey University (UK) and a Masters in Education in E-learning from the University of Hull (UK).  Her professional background is in business and the Youth NGO Sector where she has worked as an administrator and also as a trainer and expert. Through her work in the youth field she was involved in the campaign to establish 2011 as the European Year of Volunteering.  Gabriella has volunteered since childhood in a variety of fields including Youth Advocacy, International Development, Disability, Environment, Immigration, Human Rights, Sports etc.  As Project Manager in the EYV2011 Alliance Secretariat Gabriella is looking forward to combining a challenging and enjoyable job with what is still a new life for her and her family in Brussels.

Céline Barlet

Project Officer at the EYV 2011 Alliance Secretariat


Currently working as the Project Officer at the EYV 2011 Alliance Secretariat, Céline previously coordinated events and programs in the non-profit sector. She holds a degree in Social, Cultural and Educational Project Management (University Paris VIII) and in Sociology and Social Anthropology (Central European University, Budapest). She is a specialist on Central and Eastern Europe and in the fields of education, ethnic minorities, youth policies and volunteering issues. She is French, was born in 1980 and has volunteered for various organisations (e.g. Service Civil International-France, the British Council-Hungary...), as well as carried out research on volunteering.
