Member information
Dobrovolnické Centrum (DC) became an associate member of CEV in January 2007.
The Volunteer Centre in the Usti Region (north of Bohemia) started eight years ago as a small NGO with the Big Brothers Big Sisters and the For Seniors volunteer programmes. Currently, there are nine colleagues in the Centre, each in charge of a particular Programme, Project or Activity.
Gradually, other organizations and institutions have started to turn to us, requesting cooperation in other areas of public life. Thus we took part in the clear-up after the 2006 floods, and in 2007 we were one of seven partners of the III. Czech Summer Children’s Olympic Games, which involved our organisation in coordinating five sports days for 4500 children from the whole Czech Republic.
Currently we are implementing the following Programmes or Projects: Volunteers in Hospitals; the BBBS; our special Programme called COMPASS in which a couple of volunteers devote themselves to a group of six disadvantaged children; the international Make a Connection Programme financed already for six years by NOKIA, and the programme Volunteers for Seniors and Disabled Persons focused on social activization of disadvantaged persons.
In 2007 we started another important activity – the Council of Volunteer Centres of the Czech Republic´s NUTS II North-West Region. We are the presiding organisation for five Volunteer Centres originating in this Region and prepared a strategic plan for the period to 2009.
In the same year we and our volunteers helped to organise the III.Summer Olympic Games for Children and Youngsters of the Czech Republic – the most important sport event in 2007 in the Ústí Region.
Currently, there are over 800 volunteers registered in our databases.
