Member information

The Association believes that solutions to community problems can be found through voluntary action. Its volunteers strive for better life conditions for their local communities believing that volunteering fills an important role in society.

The Association pour le Volontariat’s main activities are:

• promoting voluntary action as a major and active component in the provision of services to the community
• working towards the recognition of voluntary work by public authorities and official organisations
• promoting and encouraging the effort of volunteers.

Services provided include the referral and placement of volunteers, and regular volunteer training sessions. The Centre serves French-speaking Belgium.

L'Association pour le Volontariat was founded in 1974 with an Executive Board of Directors. Roland Morel is responsible for International Affairs. Hélène Tovstiuk is in charge of the Brussels Centre (induction centre, training centre, documentation service and library). She is assisted by some fifteen volunteers.
