Member information

The Eugénio de Almeida Foundation, based in Évora, is a private institution of public interest. It was created in 1963.

Mission

The mission of the Fundação Eugénio de Almeida is the integrated development of the Évora region, by creating cultural, educational and social opportunities for all citizens. Its core activities are focused on the promotion of: contemporary art and culture; knowledge; reflection and debate; conservation and upgrading of heritage; active citizenship; training of social organisations and players; action and research projects, particularly on volunteering.


Aims

•    Cultural and Educational

The Eugénio de Almeida Foundation is open to the many forms in which culture is actually expressed and lived. From artistic expression to the promotion of knowledge, from discussion and debate of ideas to the upkeeping and improvement of heritage, the Foundation seeks to start, and involve itself in projects which, in an effective manner, help to take up culture in its fullest form as a factor in realising human potential and in its role as a mainstay of progress in society.


•    Social

The Foundation seeks to play a meaningful and effective role into the promotion of human dignity in all its dimensions, considering values of solidarity, social justice and fulfillment of the individual and the community as the pillars for its institutional project. In this respect, it invests in the exercise of full, active and supportive citizenship through the training and qualification of social organisations and players, and through the promotion of action-research projects, particularly in the field of volunteering.
