PROGRAMS
Conference Services
ICVolunteers assists organisers of nonprofit projects (social, humanitarian, scientific and environmental) in several ways:
- Recruiting, training and coordinating volunteers. Through this service, ICVolunteers provide volunteer programs by connecting organisers of projects with volunteers
- Advising conference organisers on the overall organisation of their event based on our cross-sectoral know-how and experience in the field of conference organisation
- Informing its volunteers about other volunteer opportunities not coordinated by
ICVolunteers.
Conference Reports
Volunteer reporters and editors write, proofread and edit session summaries, interviews and articles for various events, facilitating access to information generally, and in particular for civil society. In collaboration with CONGO (Conference of NGO in Consultative Relationship with the United Nations) and MCART Association, ICVolunteers is offering news coverage of the Commission on Human Rights, the Sub-Commission on Human Rights and the Working Group on Indigenous Populations. For more information, visit www.conference-reports.org.
Language Services: Translation and Interpretation
ICVolunteers recruits volunteer interpreters and translators. The NGO works with multilingual volunteers, student translators and interpreters as well as young professionals wanting to gain hands-on experience. ICVolunteers recruits volunteer interpreters, offering interpretation in conference rooms both with and without booths. In the latter case, the whispering method is used.
General Welcoming and Logistics Services
Other event-related assistance include: welcoming and registering conference participants, room supervision, transporting materials, preparing offices and conference bags, transcribing audio tapes, taking photographs, coordinating the copy centre, carrying out Internet-based research, helping with video production, mailings and bag packing, to name but a few areas.
Cyber-Volunteers Program
The CyberVolunteers Program recruits, trains and coordinates volunteers with information and communication technology skills for development. Volunteers participate in local, regional and international projects for a period of several weeks or months, offering their skills in areas such as web or software development, system administration and content generation. The Program values in particular South-South exchanges, but also includes South-North and North-South cooperation, with projects in Africa, Europe and Asia.
