Member information

Lékorice o.s. is a Civil Society organisation acting in the Teaching Thomayer Hospital with Polyclinic in Prague.  Lekorice o.s. operates as the Volunteer Centre Lekorice.  The Centre’s main activity is “Volunteers in the Hospital”  programme. The volunteers'  work is aimed at psychosocial support of patients, improvement of atmosphere on each ward and the connection of  the “healthy world” with the hospital one.

Volunteers come to hospital and spend time with patients. Volunteers´ activities are concentrated on strengthening of patients’ motivation, on meaningful use of their time during hospitalisation and on such activities that the patients are able to do in spite of their state of health. Volunteers work for 1-3 hours once a week regularly.

Volunteers work on both paediatric and adult wards, where their activities include educational activities, playing games, musical activities, physical activities and simply talking with the patients.

VC Lekorice are involved in one-off activities too: artwork workshops for the long-stay patients ward, children´s days,  Saint Mikulas gift programs, Ryba Christmas Celebrations etc
