Member information

NM "Women and Mothers Against Violence" is an NGO registered under Bulgarian law, whose mission is the protection of families, and more specifically the protection of children and mothers' rights and the promotion of adequate breast-feeding practices.

It works mainly with volunteers who can be social workers, health experts, nutritionists, journalists, psychologists, scientific workers, teachers, students, etc. NM "WMAV" believes that voluntary work is a crucial instrument for social cohesion and solidarity.

The website, www.bebe.bg, is also managed by volunteers and consists of a database of reports, leaflets, posters, guides and other materials on the work and area of work of the organisation.

The main goal of NM "WMAV" is to protect mothers, children and families against all forms of violence - social, physical and mental. More specifically, it works on issues such as emergency violence situations, socially-excluded women, international codes of practice and standards in terms of infant-feeding practices, etc.

Its activities include:

• the organisation of seminars and workshops
• awareness-raising campaigns
• the publication and dissemination of information related to violence against women
• family support activities
• and collaboration with other organisations interested in mothers and chuildren's rights.
