Member information

Unive-VGZ-IZA-Trias is a non-profit cooperative company for healthcare and property casualty insurance operating in the Netherlands. As part of its Community Program employees are actively encouraged to volunteer during work time as employee volunteers. A personnel policy has been in place for over five years to facilitate employee volunteering. Every year more than 1,000 employees participate, supporting local and national volunteer initiatives focused primarily on informal care giving, the elderly, and prevention and safety issues in and around private homes.

The organisation collaborates with local volunteer agencies, community partners and business volunteer networks. An important part of the volunteer program is that Unive-VGZ-IZA-Trias creates the possibility for employees aged 25-50 to be able to volunteer when they would otherwise not be able to participate. The volunteer efforts focus on "invisible" social groups such as teenage informal care givers and people who are not capable of going out unaccompanied for social activities. The organisation also works with the Dutch national secondary school program focused on introducing teenage school children to volunteering and diverse social groups so that they grow up with volunteering.
