Member information
OKC is a non-governmental and non-profit organisation established with the aim to promote values of civil society at the local and regional level. Through activities in the area of education, volunteering, media, psychosociology, peace building and development of democracy programmes, we contribute to increasing of the quality of young people's lives and the development of a society of equal opportunities. Moreover, OKC plays the role of national volunteer centre.Aims and objectives:
- To work on reconciliation and civil society development through peace building activities and democracy development
- To support the development and capacity building of NGOs through the organisation of seminars and training
- To promote youth issues and activities of NGOs on radio "Balkan"
- To develop programmes which increase youth participation in decison-making processes in school and in the community
- To promote and develop volunteerism and youth mobility through voluntary and partnership programmes
- To develop non-formal educational programmes and to provide psychosocial support in the community.
Main activities:
- Development and promotion of local and national volunteering infrastructures/methodologies, volunteering legislation and policies, and volunteering in general, through the activities of the network of local voluntary services in Bosnia and Herzegovina "I'm Volunteering"
- Programme and infrastructure development of secondary school students' councils in Bosnia and Herzegovina and participation in the creation and implementation of youth policies
- Development and implementation of youth volunteering programmes in public institutions dealing with vulnerable groups, such as people with special needs, elderly people, etc
- Production and broadcasting of a radio programme at the radio station "Balkan" through which OKC promotes activities of the NGO sector, alongside youth issues and challenges in Bosnia and Herzegovina and other European countries
- Capacity building of the NGO sector through the organisation of seminars, conferences and training.
