Policies, partnerships and participation: the CEV perspective
7 November 2004, Maastricht, The Netherlands
This General Assembly took place within the context of Eurofestation, a European conference on volunteering with the focus on “policies, partnerships and participation”. It was hold as a major partnership meeting within this conference and, as a consultative exercise, prepared and
informed the EUROFESTATION discussions from a CEV perspective.
The goal of Eurofestation was to show, build and increase awareness of volunteering on the EU political agenda. It aimed to stimulate sustainability, transfer of knowledge, corporate community involvement and the importance of volunteering and claimed to be an event in an ongoing process of promoting volunteering. The outcome of the conference, the “Roadmap 2010”, brings together claims and suggestions towards the different stakeholders on the steps to be taken in order to further promote, recognize and facilitate volunteering and in order to enhance networking.
CEV members had the opportunity to meet within this inspiring environment. Next to our usual statutory business we took the opportunity to actively contribute to the roadmap from a CEV’s perspective. On the one hand, we discussed issues emerging from the "State of Art" research on volunteering in the EU carried out by CIVIQ and the University of Rotterdam. On the other hand, we had a discussion focused on the four pillars, identified by the International Year of Volunteering 2001, that volunteer policies should address (recognition, promotion, facilitation and networking) with a view to provide a CEV perspective to be included into the ”Roadmap 2010”.
The final document of the Roadmap 2004 is available clicking here.
